Yet More of my Korg Wavestation Performances!
            =============================================

(05/05/96)

BENS_WS6.SYX is a raw sysex format file containing some more of my
Wavestation sounds to add to your collections. There are 34
performances in this library, and all should work on any WS (ie the
WS, EX, A/D and SR). A couple of the performances need the
Synth/Timeslice card in the PCM slot to work properly.

The SoundDiver format library version of this bank is called
BENS_WS6.LIB, and the midifile format version is BENS_WS6.MID.

 *********************************************************************
 * This bank overwrites BOTH the RAM1 and RAM2 contents, and should *
 * be transmitted to a WS on Midi channel 1. *
 *********************************************************************

Hopefully I will put on the net most of the patches I make (not enough
people do this, for mostly understandable reasons). If anyone has any
nice WS patches they want to bung in my direction, please do!

You are free to use these patches in any way you please, upload them
anywhere etc etc. Please keep this text file with the bank. If you use
these or any of my other patches on any commercial recordings, it'd be
nice if you could drop me a line and tell me, or better still, send me
a free copy... :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------

RAM-02 00 'Trancers *'

A three-way split of an analogue bass drone on the bottom
octave or so, a nice smooth pad in the middle, and a kind of
marimba-type sound at the top. If you've seen the film
"Trancers" then you can (partly) re-create the soundtrack
using this - but it's useful for other reasons too.

RAM-02 01 'Wavemod Bass *'

A short digital bass sound. The mod wheel gives lots of tonal
variations. Only on bottom left half of keyboard.

RAM-02 02 'Trump-Hybrid *'

This is a kind of synth-trumpet. Just a bog-standard kind of
        sound really.

RAM-02 03 'Motionless *'

Edited version of the preset patch "Motion", without the
(nice but overused) random whoosy noises. It also has a bit
more of a 'fifths' feel do it. Nice for dance tracks.

RAM-02 04 'Motionless 2 *'

Similar to above, but with a phaser at work as well, for a bit
more of a 'spacey' type sound.

RAM-02 05 'Sync Solo 1 *'

Analog solo lead, with the mod wheel doing sync bends. The
sync bends tend to work best on the bottom third of the
        keyboard.

RAM-02 06 'Vocodrum Split*'

The bottom few notes of the keyboard play a drum pattern. The
rest of the keyboard plays a looping arpeggio that is run
through a vocoder. The Joystick X-axis controls the timbre of
the arpeggio, and the mod wheel (in small amounts) modulates
the vocoder to let more of the sound through.

As the arpeggio is also modulated yb the same drum sequence as
played on the bottom notes, the level changes are in sync with
the drum pattern. You may want to try deliberately running
them out of sync (well, start them at different times rather
than both on the downbeat. This gives some nice syncopations).

There is also a percussivey 'blat' on the top few keys that
can be played either as a one-shot sound or a little looping
wave sequence in time with the drum pattern.

RAM-02 07 'Synthsemble *'

Digisynth sound with lots of delays.

RAM-02 08 'Hi-C Rythm Pad*'

High C on the keyboard plays a evolving percussive sequence,
and around the middle of the keyboard a synth pad plays, with
        a fast-ish attack.

In the bottom octave another looping sequence is triggered,
with it's filters being changed with the modulation wheel.

Another similar sequence is brought in with high-velocity
playing (across the whole of the keyboard).

RAM-02 09 'Club Bass *'

        Digital synth bass, with echoes.

RAM-02 10 'Supersore 1 *'

Hard digital synth sound. I like this one when playing with a
sequencer - program little 16th note sequences with very short
note lengths (a few ticks or so) and accent with longer notes.

RAM-02 11 'Supersore 2 *'

A slightly less intense version of the above performance.

RAM-02 12 'Ravel Strings *'

Edited preset - this has a 1-osc string patch with the
characteristic swooshing-type sounds (although a bit lower in
volume than the presets). The effects settings are a good
example of how to thicken up a 1-osc patch to save polyphony.

RAM-02 13 'Magika *'

        Echoey digital plucky thing.

RAM-02 14 'Mindsweeper *'

Edited from "T-arc 27" in my previous bank. The middle of the
keyboard has a long phaser sweep pad, with some percussivey
type things triggered by the bottom octave. The second octave
at higher velocities triggers a pitched percussive sound, and
the mod wheel fades in a bass sequence.

RAM-02 15 'Sadstrings *'

Simple string sound, especially good at high octaves.

RAM-02 16 'Analagie *'

        Standard-ish analog synth sound.

RAM-02 17 'FX Pad Split *'

Nice pads in the middle of the keyboard, and on the bottom
octave, a mixture of percussive bits and pieces play, making a
        nice backdrop.

RAM-02 18 'Kasabi *'

Digital phased/flanged lead, with random filter settings.

RAM-02 19 'Effervecents 3*'

Edited from Stephen Alexander's patch "Effervecents". The
bottom of the keyboard has a echoey bass, with a nice digital
sound perfect for arpeggios above. The joystick positions are
modulated by an LFO for a contantly-changing effect.

RAM-02 20 'Guitar Pad *'

Nice playable pad, with a kind of acoustic guitar attack
(although its not meant to be). I like this for songwriting.

RAM-02 21 'Guitar Pad 2 *'

Modified version of the above performance, this adds in a
breathy vox-type sound. Again, very useful (..to me).

RAM-02 22 'Digital Minds *'

Kind of Simple Minds type synth sound. Mod wheel fades up a
bit more of a breathy sound.

RAM-02 23 'Distort-o-lead*'

Grungy monosynth, with the mod wheel adjusting the resonance.

RAM-02 24 'Believers *'

Cycling pad. Mod wheel fades up miscellaneous noises. Very
        X-Files.

RAM-02 25 'Falacy *'

Accent noise. It sort of goes "wheeez-bang". Useful if you
have a lot of use for wheeezy-bangy noises.

RAM-02 26 'StrArpegVox *'

String/vox sound that has a wave sequence continuously
retriggering the oscillators. Play slow arpeggios in time
with the cycle, holding the keys as you go, and the notes will
        arpeggiate.

RAM-02 27 'Razor Jam *'

Most of the keyboard plays a synth lead, with the bottom
        octave-and-a-bit playing a percussive sequence.

RAM-02 28 'Syn/TS Bass *'

Hard bass. Mod wheel closes filter. Needs Synth/Timeslice
        PCM card.

RAM-02 29 'D&B *'

The low C note plays a little drum pattern (bd, snre and
        hats).

Low C# plays a four-on-the-floor bass drum pattern, then there
are various looping sequences up the keyboard, finishing off
with a string sound in the top octave.

RAM-02 30 'Swirling Metal*'

As it says. Uses the metal waves on the Synth/Timeslice card,
so you'll need one to hear it.

RAM-02 31 'Boothroyd *'

Also requires Synth/Timeslice card. Another pad.

RAM-02 32 'Fireworks *'

        Another "whee-whoosh" type sound.

RAM-02 33 'Shit Hot Jam! *'

The top two-thirds of the keyboard play a lead sound, with the
bottom third reserved for a jam, including bass, drums, fills,
sequences and synth sounds. It also includes vocals - hold a
key and try it out! (Now you see where the name comes from...)

Hope you can find a use for 'em. Enjoy!

Unashamed plug: EMAGIC's SoundDiver is by far the best generic sysex
management software available (IMHO). Check out the EMAGIC stuff on
the net: http://www.mcc.ac.uk/~emagic/emagic_page.html
          ftp.mcc.ac.uk pub/music/emagic

Unashamed plug #2: If you are an Atari ST/TT/Falcon user of more
modest means and need a sysex dumper program, get my own Dump It!
program. It's free, and is rather nice (ahem). (It's also not quite
released yet, 'cos I keep adding things.... :)
